Receive up to 70% of your monthly income

You could receive up to 70% of your pre-disability income up to a maximum of $12,000 per month if you’re still unable to work after your chosen waiting period.

This payment could help you cover your expenses until you’re well enough to return to work or up to your chosen benefit period.

Choice of 30, 60 or 90 day waiting period

You can choose how many days you must be disabled before you are eligible for a benefit.  

The more days you wait before you are eligible to receive a benefit payment, the lower your premium will be. 

Cover for up to five years

Choose the maximum amount of time you want us to pay you a monthly benefit for a claim while you’re disabled.

Your benefit period can be 1, 2 or 5 years and the benefit period starts at the end of your chosen waiting period. You can reduce the premium you need to pay by choosing a shorter benefit period.

Choice of sickness and injury cover, or injury only cover

Ezicover Income Protection offers two types of cover:

Sickness and Injury Cover, which can provide a monthly benefit if you can’t work, and you become disabled for longer than your waiting period to due to a sickness or injury.

Injury Only Cover provides a monthly benefit if you can’t work, and you become disabled for a longer period than your waiting period due to an injury.

    To give you time to check your details and make sure Ezicover Income Protection meets your needs, your first month’s premium is waived. That means in the first year of your policy you will only pay 11 months premium.

  • Cover anywhere, any time 
    You’re covered 24/7, anywhere in the world, except during travel in countries or regions outside Australia if the Australian government has advised against travel to that country or region at the time of starting the trip

  • Tax deductible premiums 
    Generally, you can claim your income protection premiums as a tax deduction.

  • Discounts available 
    We’ll give you 5% discount if you also have Ezicover Life Insurance policy, and a 5.7% discount if you pay your premium annually.

  • No premiums while on claim 
    We’ll waive your premium while you’re on claim.

  • Help with your premiums during times of hardship 
    Our reducing income feature allows you to temporarily reduce your level of cover and lower your premiums to reduce financial pressure. We also have a cover suspension feature, which allows you to pause your cover and premium payments for up to 12 months.

Things to know before you apply

  • Ezicover Income Protection is designed for people who have or expect to have financial commitments (such as a mortgage, school fees, medical expenses and living expenses) that they would be unable to pay in the event they could not work and earn an income due to sickness or illness.

  • Exclusions apply, such as self-inflicted injury, illegal activities and unemployment for reasons other than sickness and injury. Other exclusions may also apply.  

  • Qualifying periods apply for elective, cosmetic and transplant surgery. You won’t be covered during these periods.  

  • Generally, your premiums will increase as you age, and are re-calculated at each policy anniversary date after your policy starts. Contact us if you would like a 5-year premium projection. 

How to apply

Step 1: Check that you’re eligible

You can apply if:

  • you’re an Australian citizen or permanent resident, living in Australia

  • you’re aged between 19 and 60 years old

  • You’re working between 20 and 60 hours per week and either employed in a permanent position, or if employed in a non-permanent position or self employed, with consistent income for at least 2 years.

Step 3: Choose the waiting period and benefit payment period that’s right for you

  • You have a choice of a 30, 60 or 90 day waiting period, and a benefit payment period of one, two or five years.

Ezicover Income Protection could provide up to 70% of your pre-disability income to help you cover living expenses like your rent, mortgage repayments, groceries, etc. See the pre-disability income information in the PDS for more detail on how this amount is determined.

Income Protection premiums can vary based on a number of factors, such as age, occupation, health and more. Yes, you can.  We offer:

  • 5.7% discount if you choose to pay your premiums annually,
  • 5% discount if you also have an Ezicover Life Insurance policy, and
  • a waiver of your first month’s premium if your application is accepted.

That’s fine – you can contact us and we can adjust your level of cover to make sure you are not insured for more than you could receive, or less than the income you earn at the time of your disability. You can reduce your monthly sum insured to a minimum of $1,000, and the maximum amount you can increase your monthly sum insured to is $12,000.

Please keep in mind that this policy provides you with an indemnity, which means that the monthly benefit we’ll pay is based on your income at the time of disability.

The monthly benefit we pay will be adjusted to reflect earnings, other benefits, and ongoing income you receive or are entitled to receive.

It is important to check your level of cover against your income regularly.

No, you won’t – we’ll waive your premiums during this time.

We won’t pay a benefit if your disability was directly or indirectly caused by certain events or circumstances. Ezicover Income Protection has exclusions including:

  • intentional self-inflicted injuries
  • attempted suicide
  • unemployment except due to illness or injury
  • if you are involved in any way in a criminal offence or illicit drug use
  • any disqualification, deregistration or restriction placed on your professional membership and or license stopping or restricting you from performing important income-producing duties
  • any period of incarceration because of your involvement in criminal activity
  • any event happening during travel outside of Australia if the Australian government has advised against travel to that country or region at the time you started your trip
  • an act or war (whether declared or not)
  • any other exclusion agreed with you at the time of application and shown on your policy schedule
